We visited the southern part of Lake Garda, Itay and spent the day cycling into the peninsula of Sirmione to visit the tiny island town.
Sirmione is known for its thermal baths with its healing properties and is a popular resort town in the south of Lake Garda. A prominent landmark of Sirmione is the Rocca Scaligera, a medieval castle overlooking the lake.
Set at the northern tip of the peninsula, the Archaeological Site of Grotte di Catullo encompasses a Roman villa, a museum and olive trees. Just below the ruins is the rocky Jamaica Beach which is a popular spot for locals to cool off during summer.
It can get very, very busy during summer and especially over weekends you will struggle to get parking close to the island. Having bicycles makes it super convenient to get right to the tip of the peninsula and you should take your time to explore the surrounding area with lovely beaches and parks.
